City Council Meeting PreviewBaytown City Council Preview

The City of Baytown is committed to making sure you have accurate information when you want it today, not tomorrow. That’s why we are bringing you the City Council Preview, where we will highlight several topics being discussed at the meeting.

Chapter 212 Agreement

Council will be considering an ordinance to authorize a Chapter 212 agreement with Tinci Materials Texas, LLC. The agreement is for 20 years and will be an $180 million investment. The project, located at TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park, will be a manufacturing facility that produces products associated with electric vehicle batteries. It’s possible the company will make an additional investment in the future and expand their operations.

Garth Road Grant

Councilmembers will also consider a resolution authorizing a grant application to the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) for Phase F of the Garth Road Widening Project. Phase F is the portion from Baker Road to State Highway 146. The grant would be seeking $25 million for this portion of the project.

Dissolving Select Boards & Commissions

Another item on the agenda is dissolving multiple boards and commissions. This is a housekeeping effort by the City because there are boards and commissions that were intended for specific projects or short-term use. Several board and commissions are also being reinstated under various conditions. A new Economic Development committee is being discussed during this portion of the meeting.

National Engineers Week Proclamation

On a lighter note, a proclamation will be presented to recognize the City’s hard-working engineers as part of National Engineers Week.

These are only a few of the topics being discussed during the meeting. To read the agenda, visit the public meetings page on baytown.org. As always, you are encouraged to be a part of the conversation. Council meetings take place in the council chambers at 6:30pm every second and fourth Thursday of the month.
