Month of Service Kicks Off in Baytown

MONTH OF SERVICE 2024Make a difference in your community by taking part in the City of Baytown’s Month of Service. The month of April is the perfect time to gather your friends or co-workers to try something new to give back. The best thing about it is that there are opportunities for people regardless of age or ability.

Kourtney Bonzo, Community Engagement Specialist, said, “Volunteering increases self-confidence, teaches you new skills, connects you with new people, and, most importantly, is fun.”

She added, “Volunteering with family or friends also strengthens bonds and creates lasting memories.”

The City has been hosting Month of Service for three years. The goal is to bring awareness to all the ways you can volunteer and spread kindness throughout our community.

“Volunteering can be big or small, but it always leaves a huge impact. There is already a lot of amazing work being done. It’s time to join in and spread the culture of service,” Kourtney said.

As part of the month, you can do something simple as writing notes to a local nursing home to refilling bird feeders at the Baytown Nature Center. Of course, the bigger events, like Special Olympics and the Market at Town Square, are on the list as well and can always use more volunteers. There really is something for every person, every age.

There is not a better time to start than now. Visit engage.baytown.org/monthofservice to find out how to help and download the Month of Service calendar.
