Joining the bench is not ideal in sports, but for the City of Baytown it is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our citizens. The Baytown Municipal Court is looking for an Associate Municipal Court Judge to help Judge Julie Escalante continue the focus on judicial excellence.
The Associate Judge will have the job of presiding over the court and perform duties as needed during non-business hours as well as for dockets scheduled during regular business hours when the judge is unavailable.
In order to be the Associate Judge, you must be a state-licensed attorney with a minimum two years of court experience. You also have to be familiar with municipal or JP courts and you have to be able to meet state mandated continuing legal education requirements.
The position does require an appointment from the Baytown City Council and you will serve two years before possible reappointment.
