The City of Baytown proudly recognizes April 10-14 as Community Development Week. Mayor Brandon Capetillo presented the proclamation during a recent city council meeting.
Community Development Week is designed to focus attention on the numerous accomplishments of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. Since 1974, the program has provided funds to communities to assist low-to-moderate income citizens and more.
In Baytown, the grant currently funds the Community Development Housing Programs, a transportation program for seniors, disabled citizens, and victims of domestic violence, a Neighborhood Improvement Program, and other programs designed to benefit low-to-moderate income individuals and community partners.
Mayor Capetillo said, “It’s a very difficult job trying to decide where and how these very limited funds, from the federal government, are spent. I applaud your efforts in helping make sure all of our residents are taken care of and not forgotten.”
