Celebrate Arbor Day with Free Trees

Arbor Day ImageryHere is something to get a little sappy about. The City of Baytown is looking to the future in so many ways, including protecting the environment. In Baytown, we also love our trees. In honor of Arbor Day, the City is giving away free trees to residents this Friday, April 26 while supplies last. You will be able to pick them up at the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center, located at 1724 Market Street, beginning at 8am.

While there will be a limit of two trees per person, you’ll have more than 14 types to choose from. The list includes everything from American Beautyberry to the native pecan tree. If you love oak trees, many of the oak family (Live, Nuttall, Overcup, and Shumard) will be available.

Also, before you come, make sure you or someone you know has a green thumb because these trees won’t plant themselves. For more information, contact the Baytown Parks and Recreation Department at 281-420-6597 or visit baytown.org/events.
