The City of Baytown is proudly celebrating our tourism division as part of National Tourism and Travel Week. We know a lot of people come here for work, but more people are staying to shop, live, and play. Now is the time to use our voices to showcase Baytown to the world.
Did you know that visitors direct spending on overnight stays contribute to Baytown’s economy?
$252.9 million was spent in Baytown last year, creating $11.5 million in taxes collected by the City.
How does that impact residents?
Visitor spending results in an estimated $650 in tax relief per household and also is directly associated with more than 1,620 jobs.
Travel also supports one in ten jobs in Baytown. Visitor spending contributes to funding essential City services, including the fire and police departments. Tourism dollars also play a pivotal role in sustaining local restaurants and providing livelihoods for local hospitality workers.
Whether it is business, leisure, or sports tourism, the Visit Baytown team is focused on helping boost our local economy, foster community pride, enhance the City’s image and visibility, support local business, and preserve our historical resources.
Did you know that almost 3 million visitors stopped at Buc-ee’s Baytown at least once last year?
Our residents are proud of our tourism options, including our nature programs, and are always exploring ways to do more. The City’s economic development team is focused on bringing more amenities and businesses to town, which will only add to tourism efforts.
