Baytown residents, friends, former mayors, and staff came together to honor outgoing Mayor Brandon Capetillo for his remarkable service and dedication to the community.
Mr. Capetillo’s journey in public service began with four terms on City Council from 2005-2017. During this time, he served as Mayor Pro-Tem and was a member of the Baytown Municipal Development District, Industrial District, as well as several other boards and commissions. He was elected mayor in 2018 and has been instrumental in the discussions of numerous projects.
Former Mayor Calvin Mundinger praised Mr. Capetillo’s leadership, saying, “We wouldn’t have the Hyatt Hotel and Convention Center without Brandon Capetillo. We wouldn’t have a golf course if it wasn’t for Brandon Capetillo, and we wouldn’t have work happening at the San Jacinto Marketplace without Brandon Capetillo.”
When it was his turn to speak, Mr. Capetillo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, while acknowledging those projects. “My focus was always on Baytown and doing what’s best for the citizens. I take great pride in these projects, including Project Vector, and I can’t wait to see all of them come to fruition,” he said.
As for his next chapter, Mr. Capetillo shared, “I will continue to support Baytown and its residents, but I plan on focusing on personal growth and exploring some endeavors I have been waiting.
Thank you Mayor Capetillo for your leadership and 20 years of service to Baytown.
