Be Prepared, Stay Aware
The City of Baytown has been proactively preparing for this weekend’s winter weather. As part of these efforts, the City will open a warming center at the Baytown Community Center to provide a safe, warm space for residents.
The warming center is scheduled to open Saturday at noon and will remain open for the duration of the storm. Check the Ready Harris website for a list of additional warming center locations throughout the region.
In advance of the weather, members of the Baytown Police Department have been distributing blankets to vulnerable residents, and volunteers have been conducting outreach to assist those in need.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring the City’s website and official social media channels for updates and to sign up for Baytown Alert, a free notification service that provides important weather and emergency information.
On the Road
Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads when possible, especially during periods of freezing temperatures or hazardous conditions.
If travel is necessary, ensure your vehicle is winterized and road-ready. Pack an emergency kit with blankets, water, and snacks, keep a full tank of gas, and check the forecast and road conditions before heading out.
For questions and updates regarding the Fred Hartman Bridge, I-10, or other state roadways, TxDOT will provide the latest information at the Drive Texas website. Residents can also visit the Houston Transtar website for road information.
Power Outages
If you experience a power outage, CenterPoint Energy is your primary contact. You can view the outage map, report an outage, and receive updates on the CenterPoint Energy website or by calling 713-207-2222.
