[ARCHIVED] Utility Bill Changes Explained

Utility Bill Customer Impact story

The City of Baytown wants to make you aware of a change to your utility bill that was approved by City leadership in October.

Water and sewer rates were increased by 6% total due to increased costs from the City of Houston, the supplier of our water. Higher operating costs, equipment upgrades, necessary infrastructure improvements, and overall maintenance of the system also played a role in the increase.

Residents will start seeing this increase in December and January water bills.

What is the Impact?

2,000 gallons usage inside city limits:

A single-family household that uses 2,000 gallons of water will see an increase of $0.65 to their bill.

6,000 gallons usage inside city limits:

A single-family household that uses 6,000 gallons of water will see an increase of $3.71 to their bill.

Important note: Rates are slightly different for multi-family customers and those who live outside of the city limits. See included graphics for more details.
